Kennet, Wardour and the Avon
Chalk, rivers and market towns
Wiltshire is a county of open chalk downland, quiet river valleys and old market towns. In the east, Marlborough's broad high street runs beside the River Kennet, with the downs and the beech avenues of Savernake Forest close by, while Shalbourne keeps its listed farmhouses near the Berkshire border. To the south west, Tisbury is the largest settlement in the Cranborne Chase National Landscape, where the Vale of Wardour is shaped by eighteenth and nineteenth century estates, parkland and their villages. In the north, the hilltop abbey town of Malmesbury stands above the Bristol Avon. Our Residential Security Teams provide trained, discreet operatives on site, day and overnight.
Across the county, the property ranges from farmhouses and estate cottages to large country houses set in parkland. Many stand well apart from their neighbours, with open downland or woodland beyond the garden.
The people planning and overseeing each Wiltshire deployment came to us from specialist police careers, and somebody from that team is on the operations line at every hour.
Vale estates, listed farms
Estates that shaped the Vale of Wardour
In the Vale of Wardour, old estates still shape the landscape, with parkland, home farms and estate villages around a main house. Protecting one of those means thinking about the whole estate, not a single building.
Listed farmhouses and town houses bring old fabric and limited options for fixed equipment, so we put trained people first and discuss any cameras with you before they go in.
Typical Wiltshire commissions
- Cranborne Chase estates with a home farm
- Shalbourne's listed farmhouses
- Town houses in Marlborough and Malmesbury
- Estate villages near Tisbury

Open downland
Wide views, long boundaries
On open downland the land around a house is wide and often unfenced. Our patrols follow the farm tracks, pass the barns and trace the estate's edges, and a team that is seen out on the land deters thieves, burglars, intruders and poachers alike.
Privacy is part of the brief when the family is known nationally. Who reaches the front door, and how, is agreed with you first, and the cover is fitted to the way the family lives.
Also available in Wiltshire
- Thermal drones flown over Savernake and the downs
- Heat-spotting scopes for night patrols on open down
- Contracted transport for flooded meadows and rutted chalk tracks
- Round-the-clock remote watch on estate CCTV
- Partner engineers replacing damaged kit within a day
Chosen to blend in at Tisbury or Marlborough
Uniform or estate tweed
Some Wiltshire clients want a uniformed presence at the lodge; others would rather the team looked like estate staff, and either can be arranged.
A female operative can be part of the team on request. Each person is picked for the way your estate and family work.
Shoot days to year-round
Shoot days and summer absences through to year-round residence, staffed in daylight, overnight or around the clock.
If an incident happens
A burglary or a scare on the estate? Our first answer is what cover we can offer and when it can start.
Extra hands for big days
More people can be found within 24 hours whenever the estate needs them, wherever it is in the country.
Months away from the estate
While you are abroad the estate stays guarded; a close protection operative is available for the trip if you want one.
Visit first, then advice
First, a free walk round the estate
We come to the property free of charge and go over the house, the barns, the drives and the open ground around them before recommending anything.
Our proposal follows from that visit, with the smallest team that can do the job safely and the staffing and costs set out before you agree.
What backs us
The credentials of a Wiltshire team
Licences all in order
Each Wiltshire deployment is staffed only by people the Security Industry Authority has licensed.
Vetting with extra layers
BS7858 sets the floor for our vetting. Above it sit social media searches and a tighter DBS renewal schedule.
Medics as well as protectors
On a remote estate it matters that each operative carries medical training to go with the close protection.
Liability cover
Should anything go wrong while we are at work, our £10m public liability policy responds; drone flying is insured apart from it, up to £5m.
From the police to BPS
Ask any of our operations managers where they started and each will tell you: specialist policing. Some police forces have sent their staff to us to learn behavioural detection, and our links with policing reach every part of the country.
Memberships
IPSA and the Security Institute both count our directors as members, and so does the tactical medicine body BRITMA. The armed forces community has our backing through the Covenant we signed, and the British Bodyguard Association has BPS as a member company.
Do your teams reach Malmesbury as well as Marlborough and Tisbury?
Yes. Teams work around Marlborough and Shalbourne in the east, in Tisbury and the Vale of Wardour to the south west, and around Malmesbury in the north.
Our estate includes farmland and woods. Can all of it be patrolled?
It can. Fields, tracks and barns are all on the round, and at night the team relies on a thermal drone overhead and heat optics in hand to see across the down and into the woods.
We are away for long periods. Will someone be watching the house?
Yes. Cover can run while the house is empty and again while you are in residence, on a pattern we agree with you and adjust as needed.
Could the team pass for estate workers?
Yes. Country clothes can take the place of uniform, and the people we choose will fit in on the estate and around Tisbury or Marlborough.
What makes a Wiltshire estate dearer or cheaper to cover?
The property and the hours you need. The more ground, gateways and night shifts there are, the larger the team, and a threat, risk and harm assessment plus our own survey sit under every quote.
Something has happened at the property tonight; who answers the phone?
Ring the 24 hour line and an operations manager will pick up. Short-notice cover can be organised from there, and partner engineers can have alarms and cameras monitored and running by the next day.
