South of the capital
Gated roads and open hills
Surrey holds some of the most valuable homes in the country outside London. Virginia Water, Cobham, Esher and Weybridge regularly top national house price tables, and the private estates of St George's Hill and Wentworth are known far beyond the county. To the south, the Surrey Hills follow the chalk North Downs and the greensand ridge up to Leith Hill, with villages such as Shere set among beech woods and farmland. From estate houses to country homes with paddocks and stabling, our Residential Security Teams place trained, discreet operatives on site, day and overnight.
Properties here tend to fall into two kinds. On the private estates, big houses sit behind gates on quiet, tree lined roads; further south in the Hills, homes are more spread out, with stable yards, paddocks and woodland to think about as well.
Your cover is planned in Maidstone by managers who served as specialist police officers, and the same people pick up our operations line at any hour.
Two kinds of Surrey house
Behind the gate and on the hillside
On a private estate a house is often set well back, with electric gates, a long drive and gardens running down to trees. The quiet that owners value there also means few passers by to notice anything out of place.
In the Hills, a home with horses has more to keep an eye on: tack rooms, field shelters and gates onto bridleways. Our operatives learn the layout and walk it at varied times, so the quiet corners are checked as often as the front door.
Typical Surrey settings
- Estate houses behind private gates
- Equestrian properties with a yard
- Hillside houses bordered by beech woods
- Rented houses, for a month or more

Outbuildings count too
Every corner of the plot
One person at the door covers only part of a large plot. Our teams watch the approach, the outbuildings and the boundary too, keeping theft, burglary and intruders away from the house, the yard and everything kept in them, and poaching off the land.
For a family in the public eye, privacy counts as much as locks. We agree with you how visitors, deliveries and contractors are met at the gate, then build the plan around how the household actually lives.
Extras we bring to Surrey
- A heat-sensing drone above the trees
- Handheld thermal kit for patrols after dark
- Off-roaders or amphibious craft, hired in
- Partner-monitored IP cameras and alarms
- Rapid fitting by our installer partners after any incident
Who turns up
Picked to fit in
On a gated estate, a team in smart plain clothes draws no attention; in a hillside village, country clothes suit better. Uniform is there when you would like security to be obvious. The choice is yours.
Female officers are available on request, and every operative is matched to your family's habits and the pace of the house.
Day, night or both
A daytime presence, a night shift or the two together, for a few days or for months at a time.
Moving quickly
In a crisis, a team can often leave within sixty minutes of your call. Give us longer and the plan will be tighter.
Extra numbers
A much bigger team can be assembled within a day for any address in Britain.
When you travel
Go abroad and the house still has eyes on it; if you like, a close protection officer comes with you.
Where it starts
A free survey of your Surrey home
We start by coming to the property, free of charge. We walk the grounds, look at the gates, the outbuildings and what can be seen from the road, and talk through who lives there and how the household runs.
What follows is a plain proposal. We recommend the number of people the property needs and no more, and you see the staffing and costs in writing before any work starts.
Measured against
What you can check us against
Licensed individually
No one works on a Surrey property for us without a current Security Industry Authority licence.
Screening and checks
Every person passes BS7858 screening. On top of that come social media checks and a shorter cycle for DBS.
Trained to treat injuries
Alongside close protection training, every operative is trained to give medical help.
Backed by insurers
Public liability cover of £10m is in place, plus a separate £5m policy for our thermal drone work.
Ex-police management
Each manager on our operations side served in specialist policing before joining us. BPS works with forces up and down the country and has trained officers from several of them in behavioural detection.
Who we are members of
Our directors sit in BRITMA, IPSA and the Security Institute, and the company itself sits in the British Bodyguard Association, as a corporate member, and among the signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant.
Which parts of Surrey do you cover?
Every part. Teams go to the private estates around Weybridge and Virginia Water, to Cobham and Esher, and out to the Surrey Hills villages, with Maidstone managing each one.
Will you look after stables and paddocks as well as the house?
Yes. Patrols take in the yard, the tack rooms and the field gates, and thermal equipment lets the team check paddocks and woodland edges after dark.
Is it possible to have someone on site only at night?
Yes. Some households want cover only overnight, others only while they are away. Shifts are set to suit you and agreed before the work begins.
Can your operatives blend in on a private estate?
Yes, if that is what you would like. They can wear smart casual or country clothes rather than uniform, and we pick people who will suit your home and routine.
How is the price of residential cover worked out?
There is no fixed rate card. The size of the grounds, the number of buildings and entrances, and the hours you want covered decide how many people are needed. Our figure comes out of two pieces of work, a review of threat, risk and harm, then the survey, so you pay only for what the property calls for.
Who do we ring if there is a problem at the house?
The operations phone, answered whatever the time. From there we send people at short notice, and partner installers can have monitored cameras and alarms working within 24 hours.
