One county, two halves
Forest, downland and coast
Sussex stretches from the High Weald and Ashdown Forest in the north to the South Downs National Park and the coast. Some of its most desirable addresses sit within that landscape: Petworth and Midhurst in West Sussex, Amberley beneath the Downs, the harbourside village of West Itchenor near Chichester, and Ditchling and Lewes in East Sussex. Homes range from grand country houses and historic town houses to thatched cottages in downland villages. Our Residential Security Teams provide trained, discreet operatives on site, day and overnight, and the whole county is within easy reach of our Maidstone headquarters.
Because the county runs from forest to shoreline, no two Sussex properties ask for the same plan. A house on the edge of Ashdown Forest is bordered by heath and trees, a downland farmhouse may be some way from its nearest neighbour, and a harbourside home has water on one side.
This one page covers both halves of the county. Former specialist police officers in our operations team oversee every Sussex deployment, and they can be reached by phone around the clock.
What Sussex houses are like
From grand house to thatch
A grand country house here may come with parkland, a walled garden and a cluster of cottages. In Lewes or Chichester, a historic town house can sit right on the street, with a garden behind and neighbours either side.
Older buildings call for a light touch. We look at where someone could approach unseen, then plan patrols and any equipment so that nothing spoils the character of the place.
Across the county you will find
- Big houses with their own park
- Old town houses on Lewes and Chichester streets
- Thatched cottages in downland villages
- Waterside homes by Chichester Harbour

Land and water
Covering more than the house
Downland and forest properties can have long boundaries that are hard to see from the windows. Regular patrols of the land and buildings put off thieves, burglars and trespassers, and on larger estates they help keep poachers away.
Where a family has a public profile, we think about privacy as well: who can see in, who can get close and how arrivals are handled. The plan follows your routine, not the other way round.
Equipment and support on call
- Aerial heat imaging over shoreline and hillside
- Night patrols using handheld heat cameras
- Contract vehicles for rough ground or water
- Alarm and CCTV signals watched off site
- Partners who install fast after a break-in
On your doorstep
People who suit the house
Some clients want a visible, uniformed presence at the gate. Others would rather nobody could tell. We dress our operatives to match whichever you prefer.
If a woman officer would make your household more comfortable, say so. Every person we send is chosen with your family's habits in mind.
Shaped to your diary
Anything from a single weekend to a long-term arrangement, by day, by night or both.
When it cannot wait
If something unexpected comes up at a Sussex property, tell us and we will say how soon operatives can be there.
More hands when needed
Within a day we can grow the team considerably, wherever in Britain you need it.
While you are elsewhere
Empty-house cover while you are abroad, plus close protection officers if you want company on the trip.
How we begin
A look round, free of charge
Our first step is a free security assessment at your Sussex home. We look at boundaries, access points and outbuildings, and ask how the house is used through the week and the seasons.
Our advice is then candid. If the property needs two operatives, that is what we propose, and the numbers and the price are laid out clearly at the start.
Facts you can verify
Assurances for Sussex clients
No unlicensed staff
Each member of a Sussex team carries a valid SIA licence.
Who gets through
Vetting is done to BS7858 and then some: online footprints are reviewed and DBS is rechecked sooner.
Trained in first response
First aid and medical care are part of their training, not an extra.
Policies we hold
Our £10m public liability policy covers the work on the ground, and the drones fly under a £5m policy of their own.
Policing background
Specialist policing is where our operations leadership learned the trade. We have strong links with police forces throughout the UK and have delivered behavioural detection training to a number of them.
Recognition
Our signature is on the Armed Forces Covenant, our name is on the British Bodyguard Association's list of corporate members, and our directors belong to IPSA, BRITMA and the Security Institute.
Do you work in both East and West Sussex?
Yes. West Sussex towns such as Petworth and Midhurst are covered just as Lewes and Ashdown Forest are in the east, and Maidstone oversees every deployment.
Can you protect an older or thatched home without altering it?
We plan around the building. Patrols and a team on site do much of the work, and any cameras or alarms are discussed with you first so the fabric of the house is respected.
Can you watch the water side of a harbour property?
Yes. A drone with a thermal camera can watch the shoreline and the garden after dark, and amphibious vehicles can be brought in on contract when a task needs them.
Is uniform compulsory?
No. Uniform is one option; plain or country clothes are another. We choose people who will feel at home in your household.
How do you arrive at a price?
We price nothing until we have weighed the threat, risk and harm involved and surveyed the house. The number of buildings and gates, the size of the plot and the cover hours you ask for then fix how many operatives the task takes.
After a burglary, how soon can a team arrive?
Pick up the phone to our operations team, night or day. A short-notice deployment is usually possible, and a monitored alarm and camera system can follow the next day.
