What specialist operations is

Medical, rescue and drone operations

BPS provides three specialist operations: medical cover, water safety and rescue, and drone operations. You can book any one of them on its own, just the drone or just the medical cover, or have it work alongside our residential security, event security and close protection teams.

Our rescue boat and our drone are BPS owned: a 4.2m rescue RHIB and a DJI Matrice 4TD thermal drone.

You can reach our teams 24/7, 365 days a year through our 24 hour operations phone.

Medical cover

We provide medical cover for high profile clients and events. Our medical staff range from first responders, emergency care assistants and technicians to paramedics and critical care.

We can bring ambulances and rapid response vehicles to your event, with the right level of care for its size and its risks.

Levels of care

  • First responder, including FREC3 (First Response Emergency Care Level 3)
  • Emergency care assistant
  • Technician
  • Paramedic
  • Critical care

Blue light drivers for ambulance services

We supply blue light drivers to CQC-registered ambulance services, to work alongside their existing crews. Our drivers come from police, military and ambulance backgrounds, and can bring clinical skills where they are needed.

Water safety and rescue

Our rescue work is mainly water safety. We provide safety boat cover at water sports events such as rowing regattas, boat racing, swimming events and triathlons.

We run a BPS owned 4.2m rescue RHIB, crewed by powerboat trained operatives, with DEFRA trained water and flood rescue people on hand. We usually double crew our boats, with a helm and a medic. We plan the cover with the event organiser before the day.

Qualifications, which vary between operatives

  • DEFRA water and flood rescue, Modules 2 to 4: First Responder, Rescue Technician and Rescue Boat Operator
  • Powerboat Level 2
  • Powerboat Advanced, with commercial endorsement

Drone operations

Our BPS owned DJI Matrice 4TD carries a thermal camera, so it works by day or by night: from overwatch of a venue, an estate or a crowd, to thermal search and rescue, to aerial footage of your event.

You can book the drone and its pilot on their own, or have it work alongside our residential security, event security and close protection teams: overwatch for a close protection movement, the grounds of an estate after dark, or the crowd at an event.

BPS holds a CAA Operator ID and every pilot holds a Flyer ID. All our pilots hold the A2 CofC plus either the GVC or the new RPC-L1 or RPC-L2, converting as and when required. Our drone operations are insured for commercial work under EC 785/2004, with £5m drone liability.

What our drone can do

  • Security overwatch of estates, venues and events
  • Crowd and protest overwatch
  • Perimeter security
  • Close protection and VIP movement support
  • Thermal search and rescue, offender tracking and subject searching
  • Recces on country estates
  • Aerial footage of events and for marketing
