A professional-level qualification for those expected to be the first on scene.
The Highfield Level 3 Award in Emergency Care for First Responders (RQF) is designed for individuals operating in demanding roles such as security operatives, close protection officers, community responders, event medics, and cabin crew.
This comprehensive 4-day qualification builds the knowledge and confidence to manage a range of emergency situations, providing life-saving interventions in the critical minutes before advanced care arrives.
Learners will gain the vital skills to recognise and respond to incidents involving adults, children, and infants, and be equipped with a deeper level of understanding than standard first aid courses provide. On successful completion, learners will hold a regulated qualification aligned with the PHEM Framework, equipping them to take on more advanced responsibilities in their professional roles.
Topics include:
- Scene safety and incident assessment
- Emergency response procedures for adults, children, and infants
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Safe and effective use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)
- Catastrophic bleeding control, including tourniquet use and haemostatic dressings
- Administration of therapeutic oxygen
- Managing spinal injuries, chest injuries, heart attacks, and anaphylaxis
This qualification is classroom-based and assessed through multiple-choice examination and practical demonstrations. It is suitable for those requiring enhanced pre-hospital emergency care training and wishing to continue onto higher-level medical qualifications.
